Belle Grove Plantation is a historic site in the Shenandoah Valley, located near Middletown. It was home to Major Isaac Hite and his wife Nelly Madison; sister of James Madison who later became President. Major Hite, grandson of pioneer Jost Huide expanded Belle Grove from 483 acres to 7500 acres with enslaved labor. The Manor House which served as the family's main house for generations is open for touring today!
