Are you searching for the perfect winter vacation destination? The Shenandoah Valley is the ideal winter escape for anyone looking to immerse themselves in winter sports and activities away from the city (and within driving distance!)

Choose from two premier Virginia mountain resorts – Bryce Resort located in Shenandoah County and Massanutten, located in Rockingham County, to enjoy your fill of skiing, snowboarding, tubing on more than 6,400 acres.

There are plenty of fun alternative ways to enjoy your winter vacation both within the resorts and by visiting the nearby foodie and arts City of Harrisonburg as a break from the slopes.

Day 1:

Bryce Resort

You absolutely need to start your getaway at Bryce Resort – one of the top family friendly ski resorts in North America (Travel & Leisure, December 2020).

This 400-acre four-season resort is a family favorite for the following reasons:

Gentle slopes – perfect for kids and beginners new to the slopes to learn the ropes

Upper slopes – that challenge even the most seasoned skiers or riders with even the option of night skiing too!

Great slope layout – all trails converge at the same spot (chair lift) which makes it easy to keep an eye out for everyone in the group

Alternative activities for non-skiers or snowboarders – Tubing, ice skating and snow shoeing can keep you (and your little ones) entertained.

QUICK TIP

Want to plan ahead for lunch? Choose from three on-site food & beverage establishments: The Shenandoah Center Grill, which boasts some of the best views overlooking the slopes, the Copper Kettle Restaurant, which offers live entertainment as well as both indoor and outdoor seating, or the Food Shack for a quick bite!

COVID-19 Precautions
To help keep everyone safe, Bryce Resort has put in place operational guidelines that adhere to COVID-19 regulatory standards.

Apart from the common requirement to ensure masks or face coverings when in indoor or outdoor public spaces such as lift lines (unless eating or drinking), one of the most significant changes to take note of before your trip – is that all reservations must be made online! Which means if you plan to hit the slopes, make sure to purchase your lift tickets and rentals ahead.

Spend the Evening in Harrisonburg

After a full day of hitting the slopes, head down the road to Harrisonburg’s culinary district.

Eager to check out some of the best Harrisonburg has to offer? Go to BoBoKo Indonesian Café, Harrisonburg’s top-rated restaurant on Tripadvisor! With a price range of $13 to $20 for entrees, and a delectable menu of traditional and fusion Indonesian cuisine, no wonder it is so popular. The beef rendang and chicken satay are some of the top recommendations. Make sure you book ahead – they only have a 20 seat capacity currently!

If pizza is what you want, check out Ruby’s Arcade, a family friendly spot for casual food and fun. They also have bowling, ping-pong, and darts onsite!

If you’re looking for a more upscale option, try the Local Chop and Grill House. A contemporary steakhouse which offers a menu of quality steaks, chops, house-made charcuteries, and organic seasonal produce. Indulge in your dining experience as you soak in the old-world charm of the building’s stunning interior and enjoy the impeccable service and food!

QUICK TIP
