Reckoning: A Series On U.s. Presidents And Racial Inequality

Event Details

Introducing RECKONING: U.S. Presidents and Racial Inequality.
This virtual nine-month series explores the views and the political policies of individual presidents toward minority populations, with an in-depth focus on how each of these minority groups were affected by the presidential policies directed toward them.
We believe that conversations among historians with questions from the public are opportunities for honest discussion and reflection. All sessions will be held on zoom, and pre-registration for each session is required.
Presidents featured in this series include:
January 20 – Andrew Jackson (The Hermitage)
February 10 – Abraham Lincoln (Lincoln Presidential Library)
March 10 – Ulysses Grant (Grant Presidential Library)
April 14 – Rutherford Hayes (Hayes Presidential Library)
May 12 – Benjamin Harrison (Harrison Presidential Site)
June 9 – Theodore Roosevelt (Roosevelt Center)
July 7 – Woodrow Wilson (Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library)
August 11 – Warren Harding (Harding Presidential Sites)
September 8 – Roundtable wrap-up session with representatives from each presidential site
